A FEMINIST’S GUIDE TO BOTANY
A FEMINIST’S GUIDE TO BOTANY is an arts&science special lecture exploring the history of the heroic women artists, explorers and scientists that helped forge the way that we see the world around us!
Drawing from both the rich history of female presence in the botanic gardens of the UK, as well as the inspiring stories of women botanical explorers through the ages, this class will be an incredible opportunity to explore rarely seen paintings by female artists and adventurers such as Marianne North as well as exploring the colourful histories of pioneering women in gardening, exploring and botanical art, from Maria Sybilla Merian, and Rachel Ruysch, to Emily Carr, Priscilla Susan Bury and the hidden history of the Women Gardeners of Kew.
